UK Exhibition: They Walk Among Us

image

The latest solo exhibition from artist and children’s book illustrator Sarah Underwood.

In this showcase, Sarah returns to a regular theme, a lifelong love of animals.

Her menagerie is playfully personified in various ways to hold a mirror up to our own personalities and ask, if animals led our lives, would we treat them any differently?

Sarah Underwood

I am a freelance illustrator living and working in London who is passionate about art, drawing and illustration. I have a degree specialising in Illustration and further extensive training in Commercial Graphics and Digital Illustration. In September 2014 I will be starting my MA in children's book illustration at Anglia Ruskin in Cambridge. Additionally, I have over 10 years experience in the trade publishing industry specifically in children's books working for publishers including Puffin Children's book range at Penguin, 4th Estate at Harper Collins, and the Colour and Activity range at Egmont Children's books amongst others. I draw my inspiration from a multitude of influences and have been drawing for as long as I can remember. Be it film, art, music or simply observing the world around me. More recently my work is based upon a love of nature, animals and the woodland and I use both traditional drawing skills and a digital environment to create my pieces. I can offer excellent drawing skills and a fast turnaround, an in depth knowledge of the publishing process, as well as proficient skills in digital software.
