Jacob Grant – SCBWI May Featured Artist

Ecstatic to announce that I’m the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators featured artist for May! I joined the society last year and have been blown away by their constant support and generosity.

You can see my work on their site or follow the links to see it bigger and better on my personal site. Thank you SCBWI!

Jacob Grant

I’m an author/illustrator workin’ day and night in Chicago. Open to all variety of illustration work, I dedicate every available moment to crafting absurd and heartfelt children’s books. I graduated magna cum laude from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 2006, and worked professionally as a graphic designer for the following 5 years. During this time I pursued illustration whenever possible, patiently scheming a way to make it my day job. In 2011 I took the leap focusing on a career as an author/illustrator and finishing my first picturebook. It was fairly bad. BUT what I learned from that process was invaluable. While this book was out in the publishers’ slush piles I was hard at work on a second. Still bad, but a definite improvement. Not to be discouraged I pushed on with a third book, and I’m ecstatic to say it found a home! I’m currently working with a publisher to prepare SCAREDY KATE for an early 2014 release. When not working on books I sketch out what’s in my brain and share it on my blog. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
