Steve Antony

I am studying for a Masters Degree in Children’s Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University at Cambridge University. I am represented by the Elizabeth Roy Literary Agency. I am due to graduate from Anglia Ruskin in January 2013.

I love telling stories through picture books. Even if I lived alone on an island in the middle of nowhere, my days would be consumed with the constant creation of stories. I passionately believe that picture books are a powerful form of communication that can touch the hearts and minds of children and adults alike. They can educate, enlighten or simply amuse you. I am always working on new, fresh ideas for picture books, and I continuely aim to create beautiful picture books that have a real sense of purpose.

In 2011 I was awarded with a Searle Award for Creativity high commendation for a picture book about endangered animals.

I use pencil, graphite, ink and Photoshop. Most of my ideas strike me when I least expect it, which is why my 3am bedside notepad is filled with random thoughts and doodles.

I grately admire the work of Ezra Jack Keats, John Burningham, Raymond Briggs, Babette Cole and more recently, Jon Klassen.
