Nicole Alesi – The Jerk at the Bar

Lately, I have been playing around with style, technique and focusing on telling a story with my work. This illustration is about the cocky hedge fund employee who likes to hit on women at happy hour… I should also add that he’s not very good at it…

The message of my work is “Pop-Driven, Care-Free.” My style is inspired by pop culture trends in music, fashion and nostalgic references of the 1960s and 80s. I’m a people person therefore, people, especially women, tend to be the main subjects of my illustrations. Living in New York City, I come across something inspiring almost every minute so it’s important that I write my creative ideas down in my sketch book. When I’m satisfied with the result, I scan and finish the image in Illustrator and Photoshop. (Instant gratification, perfect for Pop!) I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Advertising and Design. I also have a background in dance and musical theatre. When I’m not drawing, you can find me performing improv, taking a dance class or obsessing over my favorite TV show ‘Lost.’ I recently opened up a shop on Etsy - You can check it out by visiting I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it!
