Magic Pony and Narwhal Art Projects are pleased to present the Canadian solo premiere of renowned Japanese manga artist, Junko Mizuno. Known for her unique gothic kawaii style, Junko combines cuteness, gore and eroticism within an oeuvre that includes comics, painting, drawings, animation and toys. Influenced by vintage shojo manga, folktales, horror and pop art, Mizuno creates fairy tales where deliciously adorable pin-ups prance naively through psychedelic worlds, battling and cohabiting with the dark magic that surrounds them.

For Red Tresses and Freckles, Junko has injected her unique style of kawaii noir into beloved Canadian folklore, creating bewitching portrayals of female fortitude and fantasy. Red Tresses and Freckles runs from June 18 to July 26. The opening reception will be held on June 18 from 7-10pm at Narwhal Art Projects, 680 Queen St. West. Junko Mizuno will be in attendance.
