Meet the Author Gwenaëlle Gobé | FIAF

Join author and artist Gwenaëlle Gobé for a discussion of her comic book The Diary of Stephanie: Electoral Surge. The first episode in the series, Electoral Surge follows Stephanie, a two-headed girl on a quest to find her place in a world filled with fantastical creatures and strange surroundings.

After the talk, view the original pencil and water-color illustrations, and pick up your own copy to have signed by the author herself.

Using Manga Studio 5 Illustration

I’ve recently switched over to using Manga Studio 5, an illustration program not too dissimilar to Adobe Photoshop, but with a toolset that is geared towards how a comic artist or traditional pen and ink illustrator might have previously gone about their business. I’ve illustrated four children’s books so far for Raintree Publishing and Hachette children’s book imprints using the software, but as most of these commissions have concentrated on astronauts and footballers, I’ve had little opportunity to draw many females. Having a bit of free time in my schedule, I thought I’d counter that gender imbalance with a quick illustration of Judge Anderson, one of my favourite characters from 2000 AD comic.
