Shaw Nielsen – Denver Zoo Zoomily Illustrations
New Illustrations for the Denver Zoo’s Zoomily event this summer have been posted. For the Zoomily event kids are encouraged to dress up as animals from their favorite fairy tales. This year the zoo put in a new water exhibit, which gave me the chance to draw lots of fishies. As always, a fun assignment. Enjoy!

Shaw Neilsen – Robots From My Youth
I am going to be part of a gallery show this Friday from 6 to 10, that features the work of Dave DeVries’ Monster engine. The theme is the interpretation of children’s art and not knowing any kids myself I decided to revisit an often visited theme from my youth – robots – more specifically killer robots.
I’ll be posting a photo of one of my old robots as soon as I can sneak it off of my mothers wall long enough to scan, until then enjoy this Shaw Nielsen Robot circa 2010. Learn more here.

Shaw Nielsen – BordoBello Skateboard
I designed this skateboard deck to help out the folks at the Bordo Bello, a skateboard art fundraiser in Denver. The event is put on by the AIGA and all of the proceeds go directly to two places: Access Gallery and Youth Design Denver. Learn more about the event here: www.bordobello.com
The design is influenced by the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration and also the northern European tradition of vanitas still life painting, learn more about them here & here.
