Shaw Nielsen – University of Denver Alumni Magazine, Snazzy New Map Illustration

This map of Denver was created for the University of Denver Alumni magazine to highlight the growing number of gastronomic delights owned by DU alums. (As an added feature, the final file was left layered so that the designer could pull out various elements of the map to feature as spot illustrations throughout the article.)

Here’s a new illustration and a bit O’ hand done type from a personal project I’m working on titled “Paul Bunyan & the Midnight Mischief.”

There’s not much to be said about being asked to illustrate something for HOW magazine, one of the premier graphic design and illustration magazines in the world, than it was a honor. The article was a point counterpoint about the benefits and drawbacks of crowd sourcing, titled “Designers Dilemma.”
