Sam Gilbey – Scott Pilgrim poster

News submitted by Sam Gilbey - Visit Website Comments

Edgar Wright commissioned me to create a poster for the New Beverly in LA, who are showing Scott Pilgrim at midnight on a couple of nights in November. I wanted to create something in a wide format (in the hope that it can be projected on the night), and I’m pleased to be able to share this with you now. See more at bit.ly/scottpilgrimposter

‘Renmen’ is the Haitian word for Love, and the bird in my illustration is the Hispaniolan Trogon, the national bird of Haiti. The Renmen Project has been brought together by the team at Thunder Chunky and Ben The Illustrator in order to raise funds for UNICEF’s Haiti Appeal.

I was very honoured to be asked to contribute to the project, and my limited edition signed prints are available right now! They’ve been printed as A3 posters, printed on lovely High White Smooth 315gsm 100% Cotton Rag, pH neutral, acid-free art paper, using 8-colour Epson UltraChrome K3 ink, and are just £20 each, with all proceeds going to Unicef. Thanks so much to the guys at Ripe Digital and Rik Penny for making this possible, and for their kind donation of time, expertise and materials.

Please support if you can.

Sam Gilbey – Death Wish 3 flyer

News submitted by Sam Gilbey - Visit Website Comments

Curzon cinemas run a ‘Midnight Movies’ series, and in February Edgar Wright introduced the Charles Bronson classic, Death Wish 3, at the Curzon Soho. I created a flyer for the event, which was also projected at the cinema on the night. More here and here.

Sam Gilbey – Brand new portfolio site and work!

News submitted by Sam Gilbey - Visit Website Comments

policestory

I’m very pleased to announce that my new illustration portfolio is now online, and you can see it at samgilbeyillustrates.com. For a while I honestly thought it would never be finished, so it’s great to finally have it ‘out there’. I’ve also completed a brand new piece for the launch, which is the above tribute to one of Jackie Chan’s very best movies, Police Story. You’ll find more detailed images of that piece on my new site. Hope you like it!

Shaun of the Dead print

This artwork was originally done as part of a flyer design for the director Edgar Wright in 2008. I’ve made a few little adjustments for 2009, and made a standalone piece. Edgar’s kindly given me permission to sell the artwork as a print, but I’ve decided I’m only going to sell this until Halloween! So if you’d like a copy, this may be your only chance to get one. Ever! The print is available at Imagekind, who provide really high quality prints at the size you want, on a variety of papers or canvas, and you can even get them framed at the same time. Many thanks for your support.

You can see a larger preview in my Flickr feed.

Sam Gilbey – Actor/Director projects

News submitted by Sam Gilbey - Visit Website Comments

Woody Allen portrait

I’ve started work on a series of famous actor/director portraits, just for my own amusement. I’m spending a couple of hours on each of these studies in between commercial projects. So far I’ve completed Woody Allen and Beat Takeshi, but more are on the way soon. You’ll find them in my Flickr feed, while I get my new site up and running. Hope you like!
