’75 Peters’ celebrates iconic British Architect (and co-founder of Archigram) Sir Peter Cook’s 75th birthday. 75 established and emerging international artists have produced a portrait of Sir Peter to auction for charity Architecture for Humanity. All 75 artworks will be released periodically up until the time of the auction commencing Wednesday 26th October.

Australian collage artist Kareem Rizk will have some new works featured in the Cutters: Contemporary Collage Exhibition opening on Feb 5th at the West Cork Arts Centre in Skibbereen, Ireland…

For this exhibition, artist and curator James Gallagher has brought together over 50 international artists showcasing the range and depth of collage taking place today. This exhibition is the third in the Cutters series (Cinders Gallery, Brooklyn in 2009, and Pool Gallery, Berlin in 2010).

Kareem’s work has also been featured in a new hardcover book titled Cutting Edges: Contemporary Collage published by Gestalten in Berlin, Germany and also edited by James Gallagher. Cutting Edges documents the current resurgence of collage featuring many leading artists working today. The book has been released to coincide with the opening of the Cutters exhibition and is now available worldwide at all good book stores.

Kareem Rizk recently had some art and words featured in the latest issue of Varoom Magazine.

The 12 page lead article is titled ‘The Future Is Junk’. This intriguing article aims to give a concise look into the growing trend of collage, the psychology of collage art, some of the current key contributors to the contemporary world of this genre and where it is heading.

Written by artist, writer and film director, Paul Burgess, the article reveals that carefully collecting images, and the art of destroying them, is often essential in creating a vision of the future that isn’t smoothed over by convention and consensus.
